Naruto Headband

Hiya! I'm back, did you miss me? Well for the past week I've been very busy and have knitted myself a Naruto ninja headband, and to be honest, I am really chuffed with myself (It took from Tuesday all the way to Friday!) So yeah, Here's how I made it....

So first I got two different colors of wool, a dark blue and a silvery grey and did 21 stitches (though I'd recommend to do at 17-18 as this is really thick!) and did a third of  my head width in the dark blue using the Scandinavian continental reverse stitch.
Then once I finished this I turned my knitting around and started with the grey (using the same stitch!) and did the same head width as my forehead.
Next, I did another third in dark blue and cast off the knitting by knitting the two ends together and knotting it.
Finally, using a black wool, I sew the hidden leaf symbol onto the grey wool.

Ta-dah! So here's the finished product!

Edward Elric cosplay!

Hey, so time for my first ever full cosplay! We'll as you can guess from the title, I'm doing Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. So before I start, I thought I'd do a background on the character for those who don't know this epic character (don't worry, I'll try to keep it short!).

So, where to start!? Edward (or Ed as he is mostly called by) Elric is a state alchemist known as the Fullmetal Alchemist by the state. He is extremely touchy about his height and after a failed attempt at human-transmutation of his mother, he loses, not only his brothers body (his soul is later attached to a suit of amour using a blood seal, costing Ed his arm) but Ed's leg. However, post transmutation Ed gets prosthetic limbs called Automail. Looking to get their bodies back, the two brothers adventure for the philosophers stone. Okay, character info out of the way, now onto the cosplay....

THE AUTOMAIL.....
I am so sorry but I made this before I had this blog, but I can show a pic of the finished article just after it was made. Sumimasen! (すみません) :3

To be honest, I made this three times, the first time I made a card board version (failed at attaching the fingers!), the second time I made both sides felt, but unfortunately it didn't fit :(, and finally this version, a hybrid of both pajamas's and felt, but I'm happy enough with it! (That and I ran out of grey felt!)
Of course there are many possibilities with making your own Automail, for example here, instead of felt, I could of gotten metallic fabric or changed the screw design. Well sorry about no pics of the making, but unfortunately I don't have a TARDIS (though I wish I did! X3)

THE MAIN CLOAK AND OTHER. STUFF!
For the cloak,  I took a trip to Primark (yes I know, Primark!) and had a look for a red coat (failed though >:( ) but instead I found some dresses (BTW I don't really wear dresses!) that just happen to be red , long sleeved and a good price! So, you're probably asking 'why do you need dresses- Ed ain't a girl!' Well here's the answer, using the dresses I'm going turn them into a hooded cloak, and this is how I'm gonna do it... First I will slice a small slit in the back (sticking to earlier's pic) and cut the front so it opens up. Then (after hemming the edges) I will make a hood from the other dress (the rest I'll use for other otaku uses!) and attach it to the dresses neck. Then, finally the Flamel on the back, for this I'll used black felt (never fabric paint, as I don't have any, nor trust it!!!) and cut out, using my trusty pair of scissors (and a hand drawn pattern, on  A4 naturally!) For those of you who don't know, the Flamel is a almost trademark of the Elric brothers that originally, belonged to Nicholas Flamel, a medieval alchemist who tried to make a philosophers stone. Here's a few pics of the process of making the cloak!

Now onto the rest of the costume. Under the cloak I wore a black tank top (complements of Primark yet again!), black jeans and some boots. Of course, these were as close as I could get to the real clothes, but I don't have a large budget, so it's a case of make-do!

EXTRAS....
Okay, I know this post is going on a bit, so I'll try to be brief (for an otaku this is hard!) so, now I have the costume, I just need to add the extras! Fortunately, I'm lucky enough to look quite similar to Ed and have long-ish hair. So, the hair style that Ed has throughout the series is a simple three strand plait (or braid- if that's what you call it) I'm not going to explain this as most know how to do this and I'm attempting to be brief! (LOL! XD) but yeah, other extras... Oh, the watch thingy! Very important if you are otaku perfectionist (like me, kinda...) but anyway here's a pic I found...so cool! but if you don't want to invest you can always get a necklace, attach it to ya trousers and tuck in pocket (for effect)

So awesome *eyes water*... Ahem! We'll thanks for reading, my pertentionally longest post yet! Happy Cosplaying!

Umm... Hi! Top ten!

Hi peeps! How's things hanging?... Okay, trying to be cool doesn't suit me, but at least I try! Anyway, this blog is about anime, and as of today I have watched 52 Anime's! Now if I do say so myself, I am so chuffed! (Yes I've counted and have a list to prove!) but, to commemorate this special day, I'm going to share some of my otakuness with you, you could almost say my anime hard-drive- but then again, I'm no Mac book pro! So, here it is.... Rekushi's Ultimate Top ten Anime's! Yup, even thinking about which ones I'll choose is making me jumpy! Now, let's take a deep breathe and let's...um...argh!.... Otaku! (Sorry about that, I'm so excited, my hard-drive, oops brain is going overload!)
This list is ran from 1 (best) to 10 (worst)

1. Inuyasha
Probably the most amazing anime I've ever watched. Even though graphics aren't a good as today's anime, the storyline and characters are what makes it number one.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist
Again brill storyline and characters. The fact it's been made twice with two movies and is still being sold at local bookstores is a remarkable achievement. Very close to being number one... It was neck to neck choice between the two....
3. Fairy Tale
Another amazing anime. Good amount of episodes too...not too mention hilarious characters! Hmm... Such a hard choice.
4. Shaman King
Okay another quite old anime, but I just love it so much!
5. Lucky Star
The first shojo on the list! I made this decision simply for the epic titles and references to other Anime's in the show. Also a fan of the lucky channel that focuses at the end of each episode, so funny! Okay, halfway now, getting almost impossible to choose!
6. Full moon wo sagashite
Beautiful anime with amazing songs and cool characters. Bit of a sad ending, but other than that great anime!
7. Soul eater
Hmm.. Okay probably should of put this one higher on the list... Love the characters and facial expressions used (aka. Excalibur scene!) brilliant anime. Maybe a little too much gore though in some eps...
8. Mew mew Tokyo
Okay, you see my point. I like the characters and I enjoyed it when watching, but does get a bit repetitive. Still quite good anime.
9. Card captor Sakura
Yeah, a bit weak plot for my liking. Nice drawings though and okay if your quite girly.
10. Mermaid melody
Okay story and graphics, but probably not my most favourite of Anime's. Little too much singing for my taste though.

REMEMBER This is my opinion, please don't get offended if I accidentally put your fav towards the bottom, I like all of these Anime's, this is just my preference.

Inuyasha bracelet O.o

Hi again! So I've been a bit busy again and made a small prop from Inuyasha, except with a few changes. Well here's the background of what I'm making...

During the Inuyasha series, Inuyasha is given (well kinda forced, but oh well details on how he got it aren't really important) a necklace to seal his power with a single word (sit boy!) When this happens he face-palms into the ground (ouch!)

So, I'm going to make a bracelet version of the necklace using a Native American style bead kit I got for my birthday. Okay, let's start! For the strap I'm going to use a string that looks quite natural (as it's probably quite close to what the real necklace is made of) and cut long enough to go around my wrist with a bit extra (for clasp) Then for the beads I found some black ceramic beads (b) and some claw like beads (c).  So, here's the pattern  bcbbcbbcbbcb thread unto the string and tie a knot at each end where the beads end (make sure they're in the middle first!) and try it around your wrist before getting a clasp  and attaching it. Here I've used a simple screw clasp, but I have also used a ordinary necklace clip as well.

Okay quite large pics..... Oh well! Always look on the bright side of life!

Otaku corner- Dub or Sub?

Okay heres the Otaku corner, answering questions on anime. So what is better dub or sub? well, both have pluses and minuses, so lets take a look....

So the language, well in a dubbed version the language has been translated so its easier to understand and you can focus on the anime more. However this also has draw backs as sometimes the voices are different to how you imagine the character to have. In a subbed version even though it turns your attention further away from the anime, the voices often fit the characters better.

It's very close decision and could go fifty-fifty, but looking at the evidence subs are better.

If you have any questions about any anime please leave a comment and I'll try my best to answer them.

More drawings...

Okay, I finally found the two drawings I gave my mum for Christmas! Phew! So here they are....

So what ya think? I'd love to know, so please comment!
